I’m curious what everyone around here uses in production for their Rails apps. LearnHub is deployed to Amazon EC2, we use Nginx as our frontend which proxies requests to Apache which is running Passenger. Our previous setup was a dedicated rack server which ran HAProxy and Nginx, which passed Rails requests to a Mongrel cluster.

My personal setup for one of my projects is Nginx + Passenger running on a 512 instance at Slicehost. Oh and in all of these cases we use Capistrano to deploy, I have not had a chance to play with Chef yet, but I’ve heard good things.

My stupid little blog is still running on lighttpd + FastCGI. It’s on shared hosting and I haven’t been bothered to switch it to something more modern.
